I have always dreamed of going to Europe. Funny, that I have been all over Asia, Australia, the U.S. but never here… and I don’t know why. And I am eager to see France (not only Paris) especially (working on it, and I am going next year by hook or by crook!). That’s why when I came across this blog last year — Sara in Le Petit Village — I was immediately smitten by everything about it — her story, her life and the amazing place she lives in. Sara’s entries are witty. It has been one of my go-to fix-me-upper-blogs when I am seeking inspiration about life, other than the usual design or fashion blogs i read. Sara’s blog is a about her life, good or bad; funny or sad, and I love it. (Sara and I have sort of also been blog friends too, for a year now, so I have really enjoyed reading her posts) It’s so addicting.
Thanks Sara for allowing me to interview you:-) I’m sure anyone who reads this will be inspired with your life……
- A sneak peek at Sara’s Story (grabbed from her blog profile):
-
Provence, France: I fell in love, and followed The Boyfriend (now The Husband) back to his little village in Provence to live happily ever after. Just one problem…I can’t speak French. Oh well, c’est la vie! Join me in my new life as I mingle with the locals, explore the domestic arts, and maybe learn a little French.
aMoT: Stupid Question, because It’s so obvious, but this is what I asked my previous guests What is your name?
SILPV: Sara Louise
aMoT: What inspired you to blog?
SILPV: Well, since I was moving to a small village in a new country where I didn’t know the language and I knew that besides all the French studying I would be doing, I would have some extra time on my hands, blogging seemed like an excellent way to use some of that time and to keep my sanity in check.
aMoT: What do you blog about?
SILPV: I blog all about my adventures and misadventures adjusting to life with my new husband and new dog in a very small village in the South of France.
aMoT: Share with me your personal life….
SILPV: My husband and I got married on St Patricks Day, 2010. With St Patricks day being our anniversary, we know that there will always be a celebration on the day! We don’t have any human children at the moment, but we do have one furry child, a dog named, Fifty.
He was abandoned in a trash dumpster when he was a couple of days old. We rescued him, took him home, cleaned him up, and everyday I try and teach him how to be a good boy.
aMoT: What is your typical day like? any routines you want to share?
SILPV: Ugh, it’s fairly mundane at the moment. An average day would consist of normal housewife stuff I guess; ironing, cooking, vacuuming, etc… along with a bit of blogging.
aMoT: What is your day job ( or if you have one) ?
SILPV: Housewife (although far from desperate). I work for my husband, and he works for me. (side comment from aMoT: hilarious answer!!)
aMoT: What is the ONE THING you want people to know about you and why?
SILPV: I have a scar on my forehead that is almost exactly like Harry Potter’s. Being a Harry Potter fan, I think that’s kinda cool.
aMoT: What is your weakness , and what is your strength?
SILPV: Weaknesses and strengths… this is beginning to feel a bit like a job interview. (aMoT side remark: Ha! Ha! cute one, Sarah..bear with me:-) ….. one weakness would be my lack of patience, although living in France these past two years has definitely taught me some. And I’d say my adaptability is a strength. Put me in almost any situation anywhere, and I can adjust and adapt rather quickly.
aMoT: What is the best part of your home?
SILPV: The scenery, by far. (aMoT side remark: OMG, this is insane, I have to go to Provence!!!)
aMoT: What is your most favorite post and why?
SILPV: That would be my very first post entitled, Learning by Osmosis. It’s my favorite because it’s the one that started it all. And I like re-reading it because it takes me right back to my first days living in France. http://www.sarainlepetitvillage.com/2009/10/learning-by-osmosis.html
aMoT: What are you lusting for now?
SILPV: A new couch. I want a deep, plush, gorgeous, large couch that you can sink into with a glass of wine, turn on the telly and go into full on relaxation mode.
aMoT: How do you spend your ME TIME?
SILPV: Oh, pottering about I guess. I’m at my happiest when I’m flitting around the house doing little things here and there, accomplishing small tasks without being in any sort of hurry. I can do that best without my husband and dog around. It’s very boring, I know, but I’m a potterer.
Thank you Sara, for answering my Q&A so diligently. Now, you have just increased my lust for France, and is now on 5th gear!!! I am definitely speeding up plans for my 2012 trip:-) and will hound you for tips, if you don’t mind…. Hope Ill bump into you when I go (dreaming dreaming!)
Keep on blogging. I am a fan, as always…
