Jonathan Adler {I Love Quirky!}

flutter by globe

I am obsessed with quirky. I think, if you can’t afford to buy original art,  I would go for unusual and unique , yes quirky, stuff that would most come from Jonathan Adler’s collection.  Ever since I ordered my JA books two years ago,  they have been my sources of inspiration and I  try to find similar quirky  pieces here in Bangkok.   Of course I do want to go to an actual JA concept shop (dying!)  but for now I only can do online and it never fails—  I  always gaga over  the weird ones.   He curates them very well!   I am imagining that his actual store is like shopping in a flee market, except of course with un-flee-like prices.

Yup, its official, Jonathan Adler to me is the king of quirk:-)  Love Love Love!!!

See more of his stuff online, hop over to the JAshop now!!!

An Artist’s Home in Paris

Almost a month back home from our recent Wanderlust adventure, I still can feel the Paris vibe in me. Maybe because out of the 17days we traveled, we stayed the longest in the city of love (btw, watch out for my photo feature soon!). It was such a thrill to be there, to experience the art, food, fashion, landmarks, everything! But I was most thrilled when we were invited by a friend who has been living in Paris for over 10years, for a home cooked meal in her Parisian home which is a literally was just a stone throw away from no less than Champs Elyseés (good thing our hotel was right smack CE too that we just walked it)! I was actually thrilled for three things about this dinner : (1) to get to hear stories of how it is living in Paris (2) to get to see an actual old Parisian apartment with high ceiling+ intricate details (3) And most of all to actually witness someone from home; her life as a talented artist, a wonderful a mom and a loving wife, right smack in the most coveted city in the world!

I will not disclose her full identity yet as I have a grand plan to introduce her and what (art) she does , later on, in series of posts featuring with other (Pinoy) artists. For now, I want you to see her lovely home, which she allowed me to feature — yipee!!! If you love decorating, or anything artsy .. you will love this part quirky, part bohemian, with still a touch of French, space… because I really did……Enjoy !

Expatri Tale:: A Recycled Christmas

via Instagram @miaymarch_amatteroftatse

These smocked Christmas balls  inspired me to revive my old Christmas decors of twenty years ago. I found these  in our ancestral home, the home I spent my teenage years in,  during the major clean out we did last summer.    The moment I found these stuffed in a black trash bag, I felt nostalgic and weepy eyed and  remembered  my two older kids when they were little,  trying to bounce these as if it were basketballs (tears in my eyes!).

It’s OWL That Matters

During our mother-daughter bonding, one session we had was to “try” to draw an owl or two. Here is where I got the step by step from, and had to look like this.Well, how did that go? Yikes, for someone who loves art, I surely suck at drawing. See our illustrations…
