Say Cheese! {Preparing That Perfect Cheese Platter}

I am a cheese lover. I get all giddy when I see a lovely platter filled with different kinds of cheeses paired with lovely bites — from yummy nuts to adorable looking grapes and crackers. I think a well planned cheese platter can set the tone of any celebration + memorably cap the evening. That cheese platter is very important, as it can even make or break that perfect bottle of wine!

Here’s the skinny on cheese platters; I have bookmarked several sites but sharing with you my top four (in no order). Hopefully these will guide you (and me) to prepare that Perfect Cheese Platter (just click the images and it will lead you to the source) anytime, anywhere…

Gist is, there are no hard and fast rules when creating your platters; just remember, presentation is key. It always is:-)

Boursin Dip

It’s high time I inject food in my posts.  This year, there are a lot of recipes I want to try and of course, share.  First up, this simple Boursin Dip no cook recipe (thanks to my cousin who shared it with me:-)   It’s great for those pot-luck meet-ups and very good for those wine nights too!  Here it is…

 Ingredients:

  • 1 bar cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • ½  tablespoon vinegar
  • 1-1/2  tablespoon garlic, finely-minced
  • rock salt and freshly-ground pepper to taste parsley, chopped (for topping)

Procedure:

In a blender or mixer, blend all ingredients (except parsley) till smooth and creamy.  Refrigerate overnight.  Garnish with chopped parsley.  Serve with crackers or tostitos.

Happy Mixing!

Roll Out The Bar Cart!

 Cocktails, anyone?

To this day, I clearly remember a trolley my dad used to serve his hard Johnnie Blue’s on.  Not even understanding aesthetics then, I found it slick and very cosmo (Ha! not that I even knew what those words meant too) So when I saw the revival of  Society Social’s Bar carts— it’s like,  Yes! and like,  Hey why didn’t I think of that???

Clearly this new Magalog has something good, no great, going with this come back because I am loving it to bits and pieces. So, Yes, I am on it!  Another  To-Do to add to my Entertainment List….

This is definitely a good comeback..

I love the faux python look.. slick and sassy.

It can come in pink....

This is so conveniently cool....

Very Chic this cart...

the Madison Mixer is sleek and I like it

This is a fun one!

Ok, I am convinced.  Are you?     Friday or weekend cocktail hours should never be boring, especially when I am home.  So, I resolve that, these Bar Carts  will make a comeback in my life (But wait, can beer even be served it these classy carts?—YES!)

What is your take on these revival (cool, classy and fun!!!)

Happy Friday to all!

Note:   All images are c/o Society Social.  Click on each image to lead you to their site.  Congratulations to Roxy  (My Cup of  Te) and her SS Team! Your Magalog is : Awesomeness!!!

Feel At Home

Mi Casa is about to get busy in the next few weeks… guests from back home have booked to stay with us, and we are all excited for them to see the great city!   Just today, in fact, I am expecting two special guests who will be staying over for the next 5 days….
My job, as hostess, is to make them feel at home, as much as possible.  I don’t fuss much, but here are the top things I do (more often than not),  to let my guests feel as comfortable as possible…
